ChoralRoot makes the FM-1 a chord instrument: choose a root with one hand and shape its chord with the other. A second sound supplies bass, performance modes spread the chord into notes, and a looper stores chord gestures. FM6, FM TONE, VA, CZ-1, P5, WHEEL and GRAIN supply the sounds.

Refreshed to 0.24 (stable): an independent checker found zero errors in round 2 (2026-10-17). Nothing here was tested on a unit.

This guide comes from reading the tagged source. Nothing here was tested on a unit. The JSON carries each entry’s evidence. Page-specific behavior takes priority over shared gestures; musical contexts can apply on several screens.

Panel names below are the printed names. SEL is KEY, ENV is BASS, LFO is LATCH in Classic or LOCK in FM-1, GLO is OPT, ARP is PERF and PLAY is LOOP. A tap normally takes effect when you release the button. The ordinary hold threshold is set in Options, from 300 to 600 ms; HOME uses 600 ms. The encoders turn without a push action.

Play and pick sounds

Key Touch starts at Fixed; dynamic touch is opt-in.

Classic is the default chord-key layout: F3, G3, A3 and C4 select 6, m7, M7 and 9; F#3, G#3, A#3 and C#4 choose DIM, MIN, MAJ and SUS. B3 is LOCK and D4–G5 are roots. The optional FM-1 layout below changes the low keys. Full keyboard makes every key musical unless Full K Shorts reserves F#5/G5.

Hold a type or extension and play a root. LOCK can keep those choices after release; LFO latches the sounding notes. The KEY menu can make its keys select a tonic or play, and its Full keyboard setting changes the keybed split.

With Key Mode off, a root alone plays one note; a held or locked type makes its chord, and extensions need a type. Tap SEL to enable Key Mode. With Key plays set to Chords, each pitch chooses a chord relative to the tonic. Only Major and natural Minor are available. In degree order their default qualities are major/minor/minor/major/major/minor/diminished and minor/diminished/major/minor/minor/major/major. The keybed keeps its physical pitches; white keys do not become a row of scale degrees. Pitch mapping, chord building.

Do thisWhat happens
Hold F3Adds the sixth to roots played while held only when a chord comes from a held or locked type or enabled Key Mode in Chords mode, with Advanced and Free also updating sounding chords.
Hold G3Adds the minor-seventh to roots played while held only when a chord comes from a held or locked type or enabled Key Mode in Chords mode, with Advanced and Free also updating sounding chords.
Hold A3Adds the major-seventh to roots played while held only when a chord comes from a held or locked type or enabled Key Mode in Chords mode, with Advanced and Free also updating sounding chords.
Hold C4With Classic chord keys active, adds the ninth to roots played while held only when a chord comes from a held or locked type or enabled Key Mode in Chords mode, with Advanced and Free also updating sounding chords.

The table covers every pitch class before type overrides, voicing and transpose. Choose another tonic by moving both the input and output names by the same interval. The repeated octave uses the same rule. Here sus4 describes the chord; Orchid writes it as sus.

C Major and A natural Minor share their scale notes and default chords. For other choices, the code’s relative-pitch table is recorded in key_mode_playing.pitch_map in the JSON. A chromatic pitch shifts down a semitone, except Major’s raised fourth and Minor’s raised sixth, which shift up. A held or locked type changes the chord type but keeps this root shift: C# with MIN in C Major gives Cm. Extensions add their fixed intervals to the resolved root and can leave the scale. Secret Chords and Play Style retain their normal modifier behavior. Type and extension handling, modifier changes.

Key plays set to Notes bypasses that chord map. In-scale pitches pass through; outside-scale pitches are silent with Snap Off or move to the nearest Snap target, preferring down on a tie. Scale targets scale notes; Chord targets sounding chord tones and falls back to the scale. On Chords keyboard, type modifiers can still harmonize a pitch that passes this filter. With Full K Shorts Off, Full keyboard ignores retained modifiers; the optional G5 switch below can make it use them. Split Bass keeps its bass-side keys as notes; Notes filtering still applies before the split. Notes and split rules, Snap.

These playing rules also apply in the performance, FX, engine picker, LOCK, Options, sound editor, KEY-play, PLAY-play and save-choice screens. Strum, Slop, Arp, Pattern and Harp arrange the resolved chord. Recording, Step entry and the loop editor capture that resolved root, type and extensions, so Key Mode applies while entering a gesture; saved loop events retain their stored chord when Key Mode changes. Performance, capture hook, loop replay.

The screen writes plain major triads as DM, FM and GM in both naming styles; D by itself means a single note. The guide’s Key Mode examples omit the M on F and G, but the naming code adds it. Extended chords use names such as D7 or DM7. Standard names, Orchid names.

Choose Classic or FM-1 chord keys

Tap GLO, choose Chord Keys with SELECT and turn KNOB 1. Classic is the default with fresh settings, when upgrading settings last written by 0.23 or a pre-layout beta, and after Reset Settings; an ordinary reinstall keeps a layout already saved by 0.24. Classic keeps the earlier key map. FM-1 uses the map below when chord keys are active; Full keyboard and picker pages have their own rules. Changing layouts releases held keys while keeping the LOCK latch; release any physical keys still down before playing them again.

Key in FM-1Job
F3Selects 6, which sounds only when a type or enabled Key Mode Chords supplies a chord.
F#3DIM; by itself it acts immediately when Secret Chords does not apply.
G3Selects m7, subject to the same chord requirement.
G#3MIN alone, or SUS when combined with A#3.
A3Selects M7, subject to the same chord requirement.
A#3MAJ alone, or SUS when combined with G#3.
B3Selects 9, subject to the same chord requirement.
C4, C#4Added roots, using the same Key Mode, modifier, octave and split rules as D4–G5.
D4, D#4, E4, F4, F#4, G4, G#4, A4, A#4, B4, C5, C#5, D5, D#5, E5, F5, F#5, G5Retain their ordinary root-playing jobs, with the type-window timing below.

Options > SUS Window appears only with FM-1 selected. KNOB 1 sets 30–80 ms in 5 ms steps; the default is 30 ms. A root pressed while a type combination is undecided waits and sounds once after the decision. If released meanwhile, it sounds briefly after that decision. A root already pressed before any type key follows the usual Play Style rules; in Simple it keeps its original note or chord.

G#3+A#3 supplies SUS regardless of Secret Chords. When Secret Chords applies, F#3+G#3 makes minor add-four, F#3+A#3 augmented, and all three make a root-and-fifth chord. A pair waits for the window when a third key could still change its result; all three settle it immediately. Without Secret Chords, the latest type press wins except that G#3+A#3 combines as SUS. Releasing one type does not restrike the chord; the remaining held type applies to the next root. LOCK retains a completed type set, and repeating that set alone clears it on final release while retaining its extensions. Choosing a different type set with no extension key held replaces the latched type; Type key Clears (the default) also removes its latched extensions, while Keeps retains them.

Pick a tonic with both scale keys heldMIN takes priority.
Use C4/C#4 in a picker or naming mapDoes nothing; tonic, loop slots and letters still begin at D4.

FM-1 layout active: LFO shows LOCK steadily in Glow. LATCH or performance Hold gives it a 300 ms-per-phase pulse; with LOCK also on it alternates bright and middle levels. An open LOCK layer blinks instead. SUS lights both G#3 and A#3; B3 follows the ninth extension. Stock retains its activity inversion. Loops store resolved chords, so switching layouts does not rearrange a saved loop.

Full keyboard shortcuts

Full K Shorts starts Off. Turn it On in Options to reserve F#5/G5 while Keyboard is Full. In screens where keys play, F3–F5 supply the 25 musical pitches. F#5 and G5 remain switches even on picker and naming pages, except KEY Pick, where they keep their tonic-selection jobs. Other keys retain the active picker or naming map.

Play with chord keys hidden and G5 OnUses a locked type and extensions, or Key Mode’s chord when it supplies one, otherwise a single note; Notes filtering and bass split still apply.
Restore chord keys with F#5Returns the chosen Classic or FM-1 modifier map and its normal Key Mode rules, with roots ending at F5; G5 does not suppress those chords.
Choose Keyboard again on KEY page 2Resets F#5 to hidden and G5 On only when Key Mode is enabled with Key plays Chords.

The switch lights are bright when enabled and faint when disabled in Glow, except during KEY Pick. KNOB 1 changes voicing on Full keyboard too; OCT- and OCT+ set its octave. Shortcut switch states are temporary, while the Full K Shorts preference saves automatically.

With dynamic Key Touch, playable roots sense velocity, including C4/C#4 in FM-1; Full keyboard also makes the remaining low keys musical. Aftertouch is available from F3 through C5; the top seven keys supply velocity only. Fixed touch uses the Velocity option instead.

Switching from your firmware

Pick the firmware on your FM-1 now to see what installing ChoralRoot does to its data.

1 · Back up first, on Stock V15

  • Stock V15 has no way to back up your voices or patterns. The FM-1 only sends notes over MIDI, never voice data.
  • One indirect way to back up, from Baud Girl's own docs (not tested by us): installing her FM-1+VA keeps your saved stock presets and patterns, and its browser Device Manager can then save all 128 presets and 16 patterns as files. FM-1+VA is closed source; install it at your own risk.

MIDI that presses the keys

MIDI Keys is Off by default. Pick its channel in Options to let USB or TRS notes 53–79 press F3–G5 through the active layout, SUS Window, LOCK and Full shortcuts. Its chooser omits the channels assigned to the two playing parts; assigning MIDI Perform or MIDI Bass to the Keys channel turns MIDI Keys off. Raw Chord is an output stream and has no incoming route.

CC 120 or 123 releases MIDI-held keys, while a simultaneous physical hold remains. Other messages on the Keys channel are ignored. With dynamic Key Touch, incoming note velocity is used; Fixed touch uses Options Velocity. Ordinary part-channel MIDI continues to play the part directly.

Do thisWhat happens
MIDI INReceives notes and controllers for the chord and bass parts on their MIDI channels, with incoming clock and transport followed when MIDI Clock is In.
USB-CSends performance, bass and optional raw-chord MIDI streams on the channels set in Options, with channel 1, channel 2 and raw off as the defaults.
USB-COffers ChoralRoot In for six-channel recording as master, chord and bass stereo pairs at 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz according to USB Rate.
USB-CPresents the serial console instead of USB audio when USB Record is Off or safe mode blocks recording.
USB-CA valid 32-voice DX7 dump replaces B1–B32 and attempts to save the bank without a panel question, while SAFE MODE blocks the flash write.
USB-CA valid single DX7 voice replaces the active FM6 part’s edit buffer and stops its notes, with SAVE needed to keep it as a sound.
USB-CA valid CZ tone dump replaces the selected CZ-1 part’s edit buffer, with SAVE needed to keep it as a sound.
MIDI INOn the configured part channels, program changes select sounds and CC 7, 91, 93 and 94 set level, reverb, chorus and delay sends respectively.

Before you switch firmware

  • Back up first. Use the firmware’s device manager or its backup tool over USB MIDI to save a backup before changing versions. It covers settings as last written, saved sound-pool banks, imported FM6 and CZ-1 banks, favourites and ten loop slots. Pending favourites can be included from RAM, but a backup read does not save pending Options or take a global session snapshot. Hold SAVE first for work you want kept on the unit; save important live sounds as presets because the session itself is outside the backup.
  • Back up in the firmware you are leaving first, with its own tool (above). Anything below marked at risk can be written over; whether an older saved copy survives depends on how often you saved, so do not count on it.
  • What installing ChoralRoot does to the firmware you had before.
    Show the detail

install with the release package and its included loader: Writes changed program sectors at 0x4000–0x92FFF, preparing its recovery marker before the main program and committing that marker last. This range includes M-VAVE Open’s sixteen saved projects, preferences and sample header, so installing ChoralRoot over Open replaces them (a verified package is accepted by the update path; ChoralRoot’s own installer asks for a forced install over unsupported firmware, including Open, and asks again if a requested backup fails). install staging and record cleanup: Stages the incoming loader and update record, then clears valid update records found at sector tails between 0x93000 and 0xFBFFF. Its staging record at 0xE4000 is normally cleared too (after an update is started; each cleanup erase requires a valid update record). first normal start with no matching ChoralRoot commits, before audio: Before audio starts, prepares the session sector at 0xB4000, favourites at 0xB6000 and first sound-pool target at 0xB8000, erasing nonblank contents. Existing ChoralRoot saves can select different spare sectors. Migration of older sounds can write further, as described separately (on the expected flash chip outside Safe Mode, when no matching ChoralRoot saves exist). first normal boot with legacy sounds but no pool bank: Copies readable older sounds 1–32 into four banks at 0xB8000–0xBBFFF, then prepares 0xBC000. The older source banks remain intact. A failed migration can leave a partial pool; the next boot does not automatically finish the remaining sounds (when no valid sound-pool bank exists and at least one older sound passes validation). every app boot, Safe Mode included: Keeps a structurally recognized recovery loader in staging. Otherwise it clears staging when the checked areas show use. Recognition does not verify the complete loader contents (when the staging checks find an earlier loader or update request). power-on calibration gesture: Saves changed settings and panel calibration before starting calibration; pending favourite changes can be saved too. An imported LOWCUT/BASS+ choice is turned off and can make this save necessary (when OCT- and OCT+ are held at startup, outside Safe Mode, on the expected flash chip, and settings have changed). after boot suppresses Dual Core following core-1 failure: After a remembered second-core failure, turns Dual Core off and schedules an ordinary automatic settings save (when Dual Core was on, a failure was remembered, and normal quiet-time write conditions allow the save).

    • Stock V15: Possibly at risk (layout reported or inferred): stock settings (and possibly patterns).
    • Baud Girl FM-1+VA: Possibly at risk (layout reported or inferred): Baud Girl presets (128); Baud Girl patterns (16, with locks).
    • Felucca: At risk by itself: user sample slot USR2; user sample slot USR3; settings, button calibration, favourites, MIDI LEARN map (converted: After ChoralRoot saves its newer settings format, returning to Felucca starts preferences and panel calibration from defaults; it cannot read the newer record and does not retry the older copy merely because the format changed; on entering ChoralRoot, panel calibration and HOLD can carry over; ChoralRoot’s own options start at defaults and LOWCUT/BASS+ becomes Off). At risk when you act: project slot A; project slot B; project slot C; project slot D; FM6 patches of the FM6 user presets; user sample slot USR1; user presets 1-16; user presets 17-32.
    • SLOOP: At risk by itself: user sample slot USR2 (header at 0xB4000); user sample slot USR3 (header at 0xC8000); settings, calibration, song order, SYN1-4 kits, MIDI LEARN, theme and favourites. At risk when you act: song section A (a whole project); song section B (a whole project); song section C (a whole project); song section D (a whole project); the music in progress (autosave); user sample slot USR1 (header at 0xA0000); user sounds U01-U16; user sounds U17-U32.

At risk by itself, under a condition: song 6: four sections (whole projects). At risk when you act: song 1 section A (a whole project); song 1 section B (a whole project); song 1 section C (a whole project); song 1 section D (a whole project); FM6 patches of the FM6 user sounds; song 2: four sections (whole projects) (some of it lost); song 3: four sections (whole projects) (some of it lost); user sounds U01-U16; user sounds U17-U32.

    • GHOULBOX: At risk by itself: user sample slot USR2; user sample slot USR3; settings and panel calibration (converted: After ChoralRoot saves its newer settings format, returning to GHOULBOX starts preferences and panel calibration from defaults; it cannot read the newer record and does not retry the older copy merely because the format changed; on entering ChoralRoot, panel calibration and HOLD can carry over; ChoralRoot’s own options start at defaults and LOWCUT/BASS+ becomes Off). At risk when you act: project A; project B; project C; project D; FM6 patches for user sounds; user sample slot USR1; user sounds 1–16; user sounds 17–32.
    • M-VAVE FM-1 Open: At risk by itself: Open shared sample audio. At risk when you act: Open USER project 1; Open USER project 2; Open USER project 3; Open USER project 4; Open USER project 5; Open USER project 6; Open USER project 7; Open USER project 8; Open USER project 9; Open USER project 10; Open USER project 11; Open USER project 12; Open USER project 13; Open USER project 14; Open USER project 15; Open USER project 16; Open device preferences. Installing this firmware replaces Open’s sixteen USER projects, preferences and sample header before its first start, including the first 24 KiB of sample storage. This follows Open’s source-defined USER layout and the incoming program range; export projects and device samples before leaving Open.
    • FM-106: At risk by itself: octave, last selected preset and MIDI preferences. At risk when you act: older stored user bank, if present (Beta4 does not store new edits). A valid user bank stored by an earlier FM-106 build can still be present and readable in Beta4; the bank risks listed here, if any, apply if it exists. FM-106 Beta4’s new user-sound edits are only in memory: panel save, delete and librarian bank commit do not store them, even when they report success. Read the unit into the librarian and export both user banks before switching or powering off; those exports omit sequence notes, locks and extended controls.
    • Hortator: At risk by itself: user samples USR2; user samples USR3; settings and panel calibration (converted: After this firmware writes its newer settings format, returning to Hortator starts settings, panel calibration and the remembered Bluetooth device from defaults. It does not retry an older copy just because the newest record is too large; settings convert when read; next save writes a newer format the previous firmware cannot import). At risk when you act: project A; project B; project C; project D; user samples USR1.
    • OberVave: At risk by itself: saved programs and global settings; pattern 1 (its B-track sound can change if it uses a saved program; its pattern notes remain); pattern 2 (its B-track sound can change if it uses a saved program; its pattern notes remain); pattern 3 (its B-track sound can change if it uses a saved program; its pattern notes remain); pattern 4 (its B-track sound can change if it uses a saved program; its pattern notes remain); pattern 5 (its B-track sound can change if it uses a saved program; its pattern notes remain); pattern 6 (its B-track sound can change if it uses a saved program; its pattern notes remain); pattern 7 (its B-track sound can change if it uses a saved program; its pattern notes remain); pattern 8 (its B-track sound can change if it uses a saved program; its pattern notes remain).
    • Polly: At risk by itself: Polly shared memory 14; Polly shared memory 15; Polly shared memory 16; Optional QY70 style bank; Polly setup and channel sounds. At risk when you act: All four Polly songs; Polly shared memory 1; Polly shared memory 2; Polly shared memory 3; Polly shared memory 4; Polly shared memory 5; Polly shared memory 6; Polly shared memory 7; Polly shared memory 8; Polly shared memory 9; Polly shared memory 10; Polly shared memory 11; Polly shared memory 12; Polly shared memory 13; Polly button and encoder calibration.
    • Skiff: At risk by itself: user sample USR2; user sample USR3; settings, calibration and favourites (converted: After ChoralRoot saves these settings, Skiff cannot read back the newer record. Returning to Skiff starts its preferences and calibration from defaults; the older copy is not retried just because the newest record has a different format). At risk when you act: project A; project B; project C; project D; user sounds’ own FM6 patches; user sample USR1; user sound bank 1; user sound bank 2.

  • Who reads whose data.
    Show the detail

What ChoralRoot reads of other firmwares' data: ChoralRoot takes over Felucca's settings, button calibration, favourites, MIDI LEARN map, converting them (on entering ChoralRoot, panel calibration and HOLD can carry over; ChoralRoot’s own options start at defaults and LOWCUT/BASS+ becomes Off); ChoralRoot takes over JIANT's settings, calibration, favourites, MENU options, converting them (on entering ChoralRoot, panel calibration and HOLD can carry over; ChoralRoot’s own options start at defaults and LOWCUT/BASS+ becomes Off); ChoralRoot takes over GHOULBOX's settings and panel calibration, converting them (on entering ChoralRoot, panel calibration and HOLD can carry over; ChoralRoot’s own options start at defaults and LOWCUT/BASS+ becomes Off); ChoralRoot lists Felucca's user presets 1-16; user presets 17-32, but plays them differently (legacy records may be copied, but retired/renumbered engines and foreign deep patches change their sound; confirmed Flash Data still erases the sources); ChoralRoot lists SLOOP's user sounds U01-U16; user sounds U17-U32, but plays them differently (legacy records may be copied, but retired/renumbered engines and foreign deep patches change their sound; confirmed Flash Data still erases the sources); ChoralRoot lists JIANT's user sounds U01-U16; user sounds U17-U32, but plays them differently (legacy records may be copied, but retired/renumbered engines and foreign deep patches change their sound; confirmed Flash Data still erases the sources); ChoralRoot lists GHOULBOX's user sounds 1–16; user sounds 17–32, but plays them differently (legacy records may be copied, but retired/renumbered engines and foreign deep patches change their sound; confirmed Flash Data still erases the sources); ChoralRoot takes over Hortator's settings and panel calibration, converting them (settings convert when read; next save writes a newer format the previous firmware cannot import); ChoralRoot takes over Skiff's settings, calibration and favourites, converting them (After ChoralRoot saves these settings, Skiff cannot read back the newer record. Returning to Skiff starts its preferences and calibration from defaults; the older copy is not retried just because the newest record has a different format); ChoralRoot lists Skiff's user sound bank 1; user sound bank 2, but plays them differently (renumbered and disabled engines change sound; deep FM6 patches are not imported). Everything else of another firmware's looks empty or foreign to the reader.

  • Every way each write can happen, for all mapped firmwares: the flash atlas's table. Read in each firmware's source (closed ones: their docs or third-party reports); nothing was tested on a unit.

Kept on unit: ChoralRoot keeps 128 saved sounds with their deep patches, imported DX7 voices, eight CZ-1 banks, favourite marks, ten event loops, settings and a separate session snapshot. SAVE held stores the current playing setup, both live sounds and any changed loop. Options and favourites can save after a quiet pause; leaving a changed loop slot writes it immediately while stopped, but stages it for a later write while playing. At normal startup it prepares spare flash space even before a save: with no matching commits, session A at 0xB4000, favourites A at 0xB6000 and the next pool sector at 0xB8000 can be erased. If no pool bank exists and UPB1 records at 0xDC000–0xDFFFF pass the legacy checks, first boot also copies slots 1–32 into four banks at 0xB8000–0xBBFFF and prepares 0xBC000 by erasing it if nonblank before any SAVE action; compatible foreign UPB1 presets can be copied too.

Lost: Powering off or entering update mode can lose unsaved edits since the last global save. The three-button update gesture writes only automatic settings/calibration and pending favourite changes when not busy; it does not save the live session or changed loop. Backups omit the separate session snapshot, and restoring settings writes an empty session record. Confirmed Safe Mode Flash Data deletes all 128 saved sounds, every loop slot, imported DX7 and CZ-1 banks, favorites, the session, settings and legacy stores; the firmware and update area remain.

Going back: The 0.24 release notes say older builds use Classic and do not know Chord Keys, Full K Shorts, SUS Window or MIDI Keys. New layout/window/shortcut bits can make them read LATCH as Off; a MIDI Keys channel makes them read Raw Chord Sound as Off. These choices return with 0.24 unless the older firmware saved settings over them. Full keyboard KNOB 1 becomes octave there again. Beta3 otherwise keeps this release’s data behavior; beta2 Flash Data leaves the saved sound pool intact. Beta1 and v0.23 retain GRAIN records but play the VA starting sound, and v0.23 reads Vel + Poly AT as Fixed. Older-version details are vendor-doc evidence from this tag’s release notes. Returning to 0.21 finds its pre-migration 32 sounds; later pool edits do not update those old slots. Keep a backup made by the version that saved your work.

Where the docs and the firmware disagree

Key velocity: The guide says the keyboard cannot measure velocity and uses one fixed value. Key Touch starts at Fixed; dynamic touch senses playable root keys, including C4/C#4 in FM-1, and all musical keys on Full keyboard, with aftertouch limited to F3–C5.

Update mode does not save all current work: The update-mode instructions say current work is stored before the transition. The gesture calls cr_settings_save rather than the global save. It can write automatic settings and pending favourites, but it leaves unsaved session and changed-loop work unsaved.

Backup reads do not flush settings or favourites to flash: The favourites source comment still lists backup LIST as a write trigger. Current LIST only reads storage and can serialize pending favourites from RAM. It does not call the settings writer; the settings guide documents this newer behavior.

Green PLAY light in Stock LED mode: The guide identifies green PLAY as the playback indicator without specifying an LED mode. Glow preserves the green playback bit, but Stock masks it out because that LED has no idle-key mask; this is a code-derived behavior and has not been checked on a unit.

Major-triad names in the Key Mode examples: The first-chord example uses DM, but the Key Mode examples omit M from F and G major triads. Both Orchid and Standard show M for a major triad without extensions, so those examples display FM and GM; D alone identifies a single note.

SUS Window defaults in the layout design: Several retained design passages still describe 50 ms for the default, reset, or old-record fallback, although other passages say 30 ms. Zero settings bits decode to 30 ms, the default used by this release; the control spans 30–80 ms in 5 ms steps.

MIDI Keys velocity with Fixed touch: The MIDI Keys instructions say incoming note velocity plays the key. Key Touch Fixed uses Options Velocity even for MIDI Keys; incoming note velocity is used when dynamic touch is enabled.

Coverage limits

The preserved editor-lane entries include catalog-derived bindings that have not all been traced individually through their handlers; the JSON grades those entries inferred. No unit was tested.

Mapped from Quixotic7/ChoralRootFM1 at v0.24 (4330e15), 2026-10-16. Each mapped control has source references in choralroot.json. The firmware uses GPL-3.0-only; this guide restates behavior in Les’s own words. An independent guide, unaffiliated with Quixotic7, M-VAVE or Telepathic Instruments.
