What TRIBE does
- Ten tracks each play any engine: two kicks, the 909 and 808 drum voices, ACID, LEAD, FM4 and NOISE.
- Every track holds sixty-four clips in four banks, each keeping its pattern, engine, sound, LFO and sequencer settings.
- Each clip runs 16, 32 or 64 steps with six rates including triplets, four directions and swing.
- ARP gives the keyboard to the track with arpeggios and transposition, while REC quantises what you play into its steps.
- Holding keys during playback fires scatter effects: loops, reverse, gate, crush, distortion, ring and filters, on one track or the mix.
- Two master effects fed by each track's sends offer reverb, delay, drive, crusher, chorus, flanger, phaser, tremolo and comb.
- SAVE writes changed clips and global settings to the FM-1's flash, and a USB cable with Chrome or Edge installs the firmware.
Its modes
- FX
- Shape the track's drive, distortion, crush and related parameters with the four knobs.
- ENV
- Set the engine's envelope: attack, decay, sustain, release, pitch shape and duration.
- LFO
- Set shape, rate, depth, target, sync and retrigger for the synth engines' modulation.
- EDIT
- Edit the core of the sound, such as tune, cutoff, resonance, ratios and waveform.
- HOME
- Launch, copy or empty the track's sixty-four clips in four banks, and set its song behaviour.
- SEL
- Set each track's volume, its two effect sends and which engine its clip plays.
- GLO
- Set tempo, master volume, DJ filter, the two master effects, the compressor and what the four master knobs do.
- ARP
- Play the selected track from the keyboard, with up, down, up-down, random arpeggios and transposition.
- REC
- Play the keyboard and record notes into the nearest step while the track runs.
