What Felucca 8 Patterns does

  • Four tracks each hold eight sequences with their own steps, LEN, automation and parameter locks.
  • Chain sequences so only the chained ones play in order, looping the last back to the first.
  • Sequence switches land instantly or wait for the end of the loop, and songs call up chosen sequences.
  • GEN plays a track by itself, with DENS, CHORD and EVOLVE growing and changing the loop as it runs.
  • STR3 and STR7 turn the black keys into chord choices and the white keys into strings you strum.
  • In PLAY the white keys sound chords that the held black keys reshape, with LATCH to keep a shape.
  • SAVE and RESTORE LAST keep every sequence, the chord packs and the GEN knobs in flash.

Its modes

SEQ > SEQUENCE
Pick which of the eight sequences each of the four tracks plays, using KNOB 1 to KNOB 4.
MENU > SYSTEM > SEQ SWITCH
Choose whether a sequence change happens at once or waits for the last step of the sequence playing.
CHAIN
Turn PRESETS to chain or unchain the selected track's sequences so they play one after the other.
SONG
Set which sequence each song cell plays, either the saved one or any of that project's eight.
ARP > GEN
Shape a self-playing loop with DENS, CHORD, EVOLVE and SCL while watching it drawn on screen.
SCL > CHORD
Set CHRD to STR3, STR7 or PLAY and voice the chord with VOIC and TRN.
SCL > CHORDS
Edit what each black key does, choose a pack and set the strum SPEED.

What we checked for

  • The file is exactly the one its author published
  • It's the same file we saw when this release first came out
  • It opens cleanly as an FM-1 firmware, nothing damaged
  • It doesn't show up on your computer as a keyboard, mouse or other input device
  • It doesn't show up as a USB drive or network adapter
  • Its text mentions no computer command tools, like PowerShell, Terminal or a download command

What we found

  • MIDI and audio, as expected
  • A serial port, which many FM-1 firmwares keep for debugging. It can't type into your computer.
