What modular-one does
- The TOWN engine gives a carrier, a modulator with feedback, a detunable second modulator and a soft low-pass per voice.
- Sixteen presets sit in two families: SOUFFLES pads and KEYS soft electric pianos.
- Three synth tracks start on SOUFFLE, PRINTEMP and VELOURS EP, and ALGORITHM moves between them.
- Each track has a pattern of 16 to 64 steps, live recording with REC and an arpeggiator with ARP.
- A stereo ping-pong delay, an 80's plate reverb and the island shimmer run on the mix, with chorus and DIST.
- MONT opens the brightness and adds vibrato, NUIT darkens and lengthens the tails, and ILE fades the island in.
- Hold OCT- and OCT+ together for one second to play Satie's 1st Gymnopedie, and play over it at the keyboard.
- Projects save three synth tracks, and USB MIDI from a computer plays the selected track or a fixed one.

What we checked for
- The file is exactly the one its author published
- It's the same file we saw when this release first came out
- It opens cleanly as an FM-1 firmware, nothing damaged
- It doesn't show up on your computer as a keyboard, mouse or other input device
- It doesn't show up as a USB drive or network adapter
- Its text mentions no computer command tools, like PowerShell, Terminal or a download command
What we found
- MIDI, as expected
- A serial port, which many FM-1 firmwares keep for debugging. It can't type into your computer.
