What zp12 does
- zp12 turns the FM-1 into a 12-bit sampling drum machine with 32 pads in four banks at 26.04 kHz.
- Pitch comes from the playback rate with no interpolation, so tuned sounds skip or repeat and the aliasing stays.
- Each pad plays on the channel of its position: pads 1-2 have a resonant 4-pole low-pass, 3-6 a fixed one, 7-8 none.
- The sequencer holds 16 loops of 1 to 32 bars or AUTO, 512 hits each, and four songs.
- Record in real time with a count-in, AUTO CORRECT and swing, or hold SEQ and tap a pad's 16 steps.
- Hold FX with white keys 1-4 for rolls, reverse and tape stop, or OCT- and OCT+ to throw everything into reverb or echo.
- Sample on the machine over USB: the FM-1 is your computer's speaker, tap LFO, press REC and the take lands on the selected pad.
- Sounds, mix, effects, loops and songs save themselves in flash when you stop, and the browser editor and backup page handle your own samples.
Its modes
- HOME
- KNOB 1-4 are the channel faders and the screen shows the selected pad and tempo.
- EDIT
- Set a pad's sample, TUNE, FINE, DECAY, LEVEL, start and end, CHOP group, pan, filter and effect sends.
- FX
- Shape the DJ filter on the mix plus chorus, tempo delay and reverb.
- SEQ
- Pick the loop, set its bars, AUTO CORRECT and swing, and clear or copy it.
- SONG
- Chain loops into four songs with a step, its loop and a repeat count.
- SETUP
- Set tempo, how long a page keeps the knobs, and the factory reset.
- CLICK
- Switch the click, choose a count-in of one or two bars, and set when an overdub starts.
- OUTPUT
- Turn SMOOTH on so cut sounds bridge instead of clicking.
- SAMPLE
- Sample into the FM-1 over USB with rate, time, threshold and monitoring.
- MULTI PITCH
- Play the last sound chromatically over all 27 keys.
