What FMLarynx does

  • A single sawtooth voice runs through three resonant formant filters tuned to the vowels i, e, a, o and u.
  • ALGORITHM sets Tongue and SELECT sets Jaw, morphing smoothly between vowels across the whole plane.
  • Knobs give Size, Resonance, Voice and Cutoff their own encoder, with a resonant low-pass after the formants.
  • A 16-step sequencer in the spirit of the TB-303 records notes with slides, accents and a vowel per step.
  • Hold ARP with PLAY, a key or SELECT for random patterns, a new root or a scale from pentatonic to chromatic.
  • Drive adds soft-clipping distortion and a tempo-synced ping-pong delay rings out after the notes stop.
  • Hold SAVE or SEL with a white key to store and load 16 patterns, kept in flash with tempo, octave, root and scale.
  • Over USB it takes MIDI notes and clock, sends notes out, and appears as a stereo audio input for recording.
