What ROM-1 does
- ROM-1 makes the FM-1 a sixteen-part sound module, one part for each MIDI channel.
- Each part plays a preset from the .sf2 fonts you put on it, with filter, envelopes, reverb and chorus.
- Starter sounds come with it: eighteen General MIDI instruments and a drum kit on part 10.
- The keys play the part on the screen, with OCT- and OCT+ moving them an octave each way.
- ALGORITHM picks the part, PRESETS turns through its presets, and GLO with PRESETS jumps to the next font.
- PLAY runs a phrase or beat on the part so you hear the preset while turning knobs.
- Settings save themselves a few seconds after a change, and SAVE writes them at once.
- MIDI over USB or the TRS jack plays all sixteen parts, and the keys can go out over USB.
Its modes
- PART
- Set the selected part's volume, pan, reverb send and chorus send.
- SOUND

- EFFECTS
- Choose the reverb kind, its time and level, and the chorus level for everyone.
- SETUP
- Set the keys' velocity, the part's transpose, keys out over USB, and the lights.
- BANK
- See the loaded fonts and presets, how much room they use, the bank name and the version.
