What LCD-4 does

  • LCD-4 makes the FM-1 a four-track groovebox: a drum machine and three synth tracks.
  • Sixteen synth sounds run from modelled circuits, from Acid, Mono and Fat basses to Poly, E.Piano, Strings, Scream and Arp.
  • The drum track holds four kits of eleven parts: an 808, a 909, an arcade console and a rhythm box.
  • You write 16-step patterns live with REC, step by step, or by pressing steps on the white keys.
  • Hold a step for its note, length and two knob locks, plus slides, ratchets and accents.
  • Sixteen patterns chain up to 64 long, and a chain of chords the synth tracks follow.
  • Hold FX and a white key for repeats, stutter, reverse, filter sweeps, crush and echo, written onto steps as you play.
  • Everything saves to the FM-1 by itself a few seconds after a change while stopped, or at once with SAVE.
