What bb1-firmware does

  • Two drum machines, KIT A and KIT B, run together, each with its own pattern, kit and level.
  • Eight machines are on hand: a real-time 808 plus sampled LinnDrum, DrumTraks, DMX, LM-1, Simmons, Rhythm King and Drumulator.
  • Dillo is a monophonic bass synth with nine presets, from rubbery acid to hollow dub, including Square Acid.
  • The library holds 67 songs with 233 playable drum sections, 21 eras and 138 classic rhythms from four vintage boxes.
  • 205 ACID phrases across 27 Dillo banks bring accents and slides to the basslines.
  • A three-head tape echo and a spring reverb sit on everything, and REC + FX held down throws a dub.
  • New kits and patterns wait for the bar line, with the screen showing NEXT until they land.
  • Your work saves into scenes on the FM-1, and holding SAVE for two seconds replaces a scene holding other data.

What Les checked

bb1-firmware v1.5Scanned October 31, 2026

What we checked for

  • The file is exactly the one its author published
  • It's the same file we saw when this release first came out
  • It opens cleanly as an FM-1 firmware, nothing damaged
  • It doesn't show up on your computer as a keyboard, mouse or other input device
  • It doesn't show up as a USB drive or network adapter
  • Its text mentions no computer command tools, like PowerShell, Terminal or a download command

What we found

  • MIDI and audio, as expected
  • A serial port, which many FM-1 firmwares keep for debugging. It can't type into your computer.
  • The FM-1 Firmware Hub installs a different build of this release (bb1-1.5-id.fwsc). We scanned it too.
