What Smileyface does
- Smileyface turns the FM-1 into an acid bass line machine with filter sweeps, accents and slides.
- Each project holds 16 patterns of 16 steps, plus the sound and the tempo.
- Write notes with the keys, hold ENV for an accent, hold SEL for a slide, press EDIT for a rest.
- Six pages of knobs follow a classic acid panel: cutoff, resonance, envmod, decay, tune, drive, tracking and more.
- Pages 5 and 6 are switches for wave, sub osc, muffler, sweep speed, hi-res, poles and accent.
- Press LFO for a random pattern, ARP to nudge a few steps, and FX to undo or flip back.
- Press SAVE, or stop touching it for two seconds and it saves itself.
- Send MIDI clock and the FM-1 follows it, and you can play it from a keyboard over USB-MIDI.
