What ambwave does
- Four independent tracks each pick one of eight sounds: TIDE, TEXTURE, CLOUD, WARM PLUCK, SOFT MALLET, BELL PLUCK, TIDE WARM and TIDE SILK.
- ALGORITHM selects the track and PRESETS selects its sound, with the name shown on the screen.
- Four knobs shape every sound: SHAPE opens the tone, MOTION adds tonal movement, DENSITY sets harmonic weight or grains, SPACE sends to delay and reverb.
- HOME + ARP cycles HOLD, SCATTER and SEQUENCE, and HOME + SELECT sets the scatter or sequence speed.
- Hold HOME and turn the four knobs to mix the tracks, and HOME plus the first four black keys mutes them.
- FX + OCT\u2212 clears held notes on the selected track, and STOP releases generated notes while drones keep sounding.
- TIDE uses a curated FM patch, TIDE WARM the analog engine, TIDE SILK the FM6 engine and CLOUD the granular engine with a bundled flute sample.
- Scenes are made and played by hand, and the same synthesis runs in a browser version you can play without hardware.

What Les checked
ambwave v0.1.0Scanned October 31, 2026
What we checked for
- The file is exactly the one its author published
- It's the same file we saw when this release first came out
- It opens cleanly as an FM-1 firmware, nothing damaged
- It doesn't show up on your computer as a keyboard, mouse or other input device
- It doesn't show up as a USB drive or network adapter
- Its text mentions no computer command tools, like PowerShell, Terminal or a download command
What we found
- MIDI and audio, as expected
- A serial port, which many FM-1 firmwares keep for debugging. It can't type into your computer.
