What PurpleMonkey does

  • Press any key for six-operator FM notes on a pentatonic scale, synthesised drums and a backing beat.
  • SYNTH climbs C major pentatonic over three octaves, and the pet sings each press back a bar later.
  • DRUMS gives nine sounds three times over, and a held key repeats it on the clock in its own rhythm.
  • PLAY runs a two-bar pattern per pet under a four-bar chord round with a bass note.
  • KNOB 1 to KNOB 4 are TONE, WOBBLE, SPACE and LENGTH in SYNTH, SPEED, BUSY, BOUNCE and SQUISH in DRUMS.
  • SOUND steps a bank of sixteen voices, SELECT swaps the pet and its kit, WORLD changes the scene.
  • There are no menus and nothing to save, and a MIDI keyboard on USB or the TRS jack plays the pet's voice.
