What backbeat does
- BackBeat turns the FM-1 into a drummer you lead from your pedalboard over the TRS MIDI jack.
- A song is up to sixteen named sections, intro, verse, chorus, bridge, solo and outro, with its tempo, kit and swing.
- Footswitches cue a section on the bar line, ask for a fill, a break, the ending, a stop, or tap the tempo.
- MULDJORD is a layered acoustic kit with up to four velocity layers a drum, round-robin kicks and snares and twelve voices.
- Sixteen factory grooves play straight away, and sixteen user slots in flash hold the songs you send.
- The web editor imports a Guitar Pro or MIDI drum track, finds the sections, edits them on a grid and sends them.
- On LIVE, PLAY starts and stops, SEL fills, ENV and LFO step back and forward, KNOB 1 sets the tempo.
- With TRS TO USB on, the FM-1 passes the pedal over USB so a tablet shows the LIVE view.

What Les checked
backbeat v0.9.2Scanned October 31, 2026
What we checked for
- The file is exactly the one its author published
- It opens cleanly as an FM-1 firmware, nothing damaged
- It doesn't show up on your computer as a keyboard, mouse or other input device
- It doesn't show up as a USB drive or network adapter
- Its text mentions no computer command tools, like PowerShell, Terminal or a download command
What we found
- MIDI and audio, as expected
- A serial port, which many FM-1 firmwares keep for debugging. It can't type into your computer.
