What KAWA does

  • Six tracks each run their own engine: pulse, 4-bit wave, noise, six-operator FM, drum kit or sample.
  • Music is written down the screen, each row a step and each cell a note, volume and two effects.
  • Patterns of 16, 32 or 64 steps chain into a song, each entry repeating up to sixteen times.
  • Press REC and play the 27 keys to write notes, or tap steps on the GRID.
  • Thirty-two live effects play from the white keys: stutter, scratch, reverse, filters, freeze and vinyl.
  • Every track gets drive, echo and reverb sends, an ADSR, an effect, an LFO and a table.
  • MAGIC writes beats, melodies, basslines, Euclid hits and break chops, one tool per white key.
  • Three project slots plus autosave keep songs, and four slots take your own samples over USB.
