What Mini-Tone does

  • Six tracks each hold their own engine and sound, sharing eight voices.
  • The sequencer gives 64 steps a track with chords, ties, accent, slide, chance, velocity, per-note force, fill conditions and ratchets.
  • Record live loops with overdub, step record at the cursor, and capture knob moves as automation per step.
  • STOCHASTIC draws steps from odds you set, while EUCLID plays two combinable Euclidean rhythms in their own loop.
  • Per-track effects include distortion, an INSERT and the SLICER, with chorus, ping-pong delay and HALL, ROOM, SPRING or ELEK reverb sends.
  • Save to 32 user preset slots and four projects, chain them into songs of 16 sections, and resume where you left off.
  • USB carries class-compliant MIDI both ways and stereo audio to a computer, with TRS MIDI in and a web editor.

EUCLID 2
Add a second rhythm and combine it with the first using AND, OR, XOR or SUB.
HOME
Watch the oscilloscope or the four tracks with their levels and playing steps.
MIXER

STEP
Edit the piano roll or drum grid, lock parameters per step and open the note sheet.

What Les checked

Mini-Tone minitone-1.0.5Scanned October 31, 2026

What we checked for

  • The file is exactly the one its author published
  • It's the same file we saw when this release first came out
  • It opens cleanly as an FM-1 firmware, nothing damaged
  • It doesn't show up on your computer as a keyboard, mouse or other input device
  • It doesn't show up as a USB drive or network adapter
  • Its text mentions no computer command tools, like PowerShell, Terminal or a download command

What we found

  • MIDI and audio, as expected
  • A serial port, which many FM-1 firmwares keep for debugging. It can't type into your computer.
