What OrangeCat does

  • Three synth engines play: MACRO with 15 sound models, SHAPES with 43 shapes, and DRUM-X with eight drum sounds.
  • Music builds in three levels: phrases of up to 64 steps, chains of 16 slots, and a song of 64 rows.
  • The TRACKER page writes up to four notes a step with velocity and ratchet, chance, condition, nudge, slide and accent.
  • Keys play notes straight into the picked column, and holding several keys writes a chord across the columns.
  • Freezing records one pass of a phrase to the card and plays that recording whenever the phrase comes round.
  • Effects cover distortion, auto pan, delay, reverb, chorus and a slicer, with punch-in effects on held keys.
  • Projects save as before, and SAVE > USER keeps a DRUM-X sound with every lane's level, tuning, length and pan.
  • A card plugs in through a powered hub for frozen phrases and WAV clips, and the web editor connects over USB.
