What Trireme does
- Every note key, button and the four right-hand knobs can send any key, from letters and F-keys to Ctrl+C and Alt+Tab.
- Media and mouse keys cover volume, play / pause, next / previous, mouse movement, buttons and the wheel.
- Five layers give you keys that switch while held, for one press or until pressed again, plus layer-tap and mod-tap.
- PRESETS steps through the layers and the screen always shows what each control does, since the printed labels no longer apply.
- Press OCT+ to open the on-device editor and change any key, knob and light without a computer.
- Vial edits macros, tap dance, combos and the timing settings, with the FM-1 appearing as FM-1 Keyboard.
- Each button and key takes a light style per layer: off, dim, mid, on, breathe, blink or automatic.
- The configuration is kept in the FM-1's flash and survives power cycles, and the device stays USB-MIDI as well.
Its modes
- Main screen
- Shows the current layer, the USB state and a live legend of what every control does.
- Buttons and knobs page
- Lists the meaning of the twelve buttons and KNOB1-4 on the current layer.
- Note keys page
- Lists what each note key sends on the current layer; SELECT flips between the two pages.
- EDIT
- Changes the chosen control, picking a category with PRESETS and a value with SELECT and ALGORITHM.
- COPY / SWAP
- Copies the chosen control to another control, or swaps the two.
- CLEAR
- Empties the control so it falls through to the layers below.
- DEFAULT
- Puts the control back to the default layout.
- COPY LAYER / CLEAR LAYER
- Copies or clears a whole layer at once.
- INFO
- Shows the firmware version, the number of saves and the configuration size.
- LED TEST
- Turns every light on so you can check them.
