What nightfall-fm1 does
- Four tracks, DRUM, BASS, CHORD and LEAD, are chosen with the ALGORITHM encoder and always labelled on screen.
- Three presets, MIDNIGHT, NEON RUN and AFTER RAIN, load from the PRESETS encoder while playback is stopped.
- K1 to K4 act as BRIGHT, DENSITY, SPACE and MOTION performance macros on the home screen.
- The sequencer holds four banks of sixteen steps, with OCT and OCT+ setting a loop of 16, 32, 48 or 64.
- Each step carries its own pitch, velocity, length and probability, and REC captures live key playing into steps.
- PLAY starts and stops the arrangement from bar one, and the SELECT encoder sets tempo from 40 to 240 BPM.
- The MASTER potentiometer sets post-FX stereo output, and OCT and OCT+ shift the keyboard two octaves either way.
- Save slots live in RAM, so export an .nfpr project from the browser studio before powering off.
Its modes
- HOME
- Play the keyboard and shape the sound with the BRIGHT, DENSITY, SPACE and MOTION macros on K1 to K4.
- FX
- Pick an effect module with SELECT, tweak its first three parameters and mix on K1 to K4, and bypass it with SEL.
- ENV
- Set attack, decay, sustain and release on K1 to K4 while the keys stay playable.
- LFO
- Dial a BPM-synced rate, depth, target of tone, amp or pitch, and a sine, triangle, square or saw shape.
- EDIT
- Shape the oscillator with wave, spread, octave and voice level.
- GLO
- Balance drum, bass, chord and lead levels, and use white keys for mutes, scenes, fill and auto-arrange.
- SEQ
- Toggle steps on the sixteen white keys and edit the focused step's pitch, velocity, length and probability.
- ARP
- Set order, division, gate and octave range, and switch the arpeggio on the LEAD track on or off with SEL.
- SAVE
- Choose a slot with SELECT and store or recall a setup with SEL.
- SCALE
- Cycle scale modes with SEL and play the keyboard locked to the current scale.
