What fm1-nc-companion does
- Twelve engines cover FM6, JUNO, PHASE, TRIO, ACID, PHYS, GRAIN, VOICE, LOFI, WHEEL, NOISE and SAMPLE across 161 built-in sounds.
- Part L plays the Circuit's first MIDI track and part R the second, leaving on the left and right outputs.
- SELECT picks the sound type, ALGORITHM the engine and PRESETS the sound, so a pad stays a pad across engines.
- The Circuit's eight macro knobs are mapped to matching parameters on every engine, and the FM-1 screen names each move.
- The FM-1 has no sequencer of its own, but an arp locked to the Circuit's clock runs with HOLD on REC.
- SEQ switches on Drone, stacking held notes or replacing the whole chord with each new strike.
- FX adds sends, delay, reverb, chorus and insert effects, and the white keys fire PERFORM effects while FX is open.
- Autosave keeps parts, sounds, effects and Dual choices, and a USB web page manages 32 user presets, DX7 banks and backups.

What we checked for
- The file is exactly the one its author published
- It's the same file we saw when this release first came out
- It opens cleanly as an FM-1 firmware, nothing damaged
- It doesn't show up on your computer as a keyboard, mouse or other input device
- It doesn't show up as a USB drive or network adapter
- Its text mentions no computer command tools, like PowerShell, Terminal or a download command
What we found
- MIDI and audio, as expected
- A serial port, which many FM-1 firmwares keep for debugging. It can't type into your computer.
