What PT/FM does
- Six instrument types play from the keys: DX7 FM, JUNO-106, TB-303, CHIP, sampler and FUSION.
- The EDITOR writes patterns as a grid of up to 16 tracks and 128 rows, with four commands a cell.
- SONGS plays your patterns in an order you choose, each song with its own tempo, swing and effects.
- LOOPS records up to 16 layered loops of one length and makes the whole performance a new song.
- Effects include GATE, FILTER, DRIVE, LO-FI, CHORUS, DELAY, REVERB, LIMITER and DUCK, plus sixteen punch-ins on the white keys.
- DJ runs two songs on two decks in time, with a crossfader, filters, cue points, stops and LFO pads.
- SAVE writes songs, patterns, instruments and settings into the FM-1's own memory, where they survive power-off.
- Play it from a keyboard or computer over USB or the TRS MIDI IN jack, and sync with other gear.
