What Pocket GammaWave does
- Eight synthesis engines cover analog, six-operator FM, phase distortion, chip, formant voice, organ, noise and the DRUM-X drum kit.
- The GENERATOR writes a whole piece in any of 49 genres, and SAVE keeps the ones you like as takes.
- Each of six tracks holds its own 64-step pattern with length, division, swing, gate and per-step parameter locks.
- Press REC to record notes and knob moves live, or write steps and chords from the keys while stopped.
- Store your music into four sections per project, chain them as rows in ARRANGE, and keep eight projects in flash.
- USB carries class-compliant MIDI and audio, and the TRS jack takes MIDI in and clock.
- The web editor reaches every parameter, sends FM voice banks and saves a complete backup.
Its modes
- HOME
- You see the selected track's filter curve over a live spectrum, the Hearth sun and the T1-T6 strip, with the engine's four main knobs.
- EDIT
- You shape the track's engine, its filter and its voice mode, plus every DRUM-X kit and sound page.
- SEQ
- You write and reshape the track's steps across pages for notes, timing, components, playheads, automation and MUTATE.
- FX
- You set the track's drive and sends and the shared slicer, delay, reverb, chorus and master.
- GLO
- You mix levels, pan and mutes, set tempo, swing, clock and tuning, and pick TRACKS, LOAD and routing.
- SAVE
- You browse presets, store sounds in user slots and write the music into a project section.
- GENERATOR
- You make a whole piece from a genre, seed and energy, then keep takes on a reel and build a SET.
- MENU
- You change display, control, audio and system settings, open calibration and read the load figures.
- HYPERSPACE VIZ
- You watch four animated scenes pulse with the sequencer while the music plays.
What Les checked
Pocket GammaWave v1.2.1-GWScanned October 31, 2026
What we checked for
- The file is exactly the one its author published
- It's the same file we saw when this release first came out
- It opens cleanly as an FM-1 firmware, nothing damaged
- It doesn't show up on your computer as a keyboard, mouse or other input device
- It doesn't show up as a USB drive or network adapter
- Its text mentions no computer command tools, like PowerShell, Terminal or a download command
What we found
- MIDI and audio, as expected
- A serial port, which many FM-1 firmwares keep for debugging. It can't type into your computer.
