What Bytemania does

  • Bytemania plays one-line bytebeat formulas as an instrument, the note you press setting how fast t runs.
  • It ships with 30 built-in patches: 8 tuned basic waveforms and 22 classic bytebeats credited to their authors.
  • KNOB1-4 move the variables a to d inside the live formula, and holding HOME moves e to h instead.
  • EDIT opens the on-device editor where the keys type, FX reaches a second layer of operators, and every change compiles instantly.
  • ARP builds a random formula worth hearing, and ENV clears the patch back to t alone.
  • Hold SEQ to loop or ping-pong any part of a formula, from 16 up to 65536 steps.
  • LFO steps through MONO, DUAL, POLY and MULTI, which plays a different formula on each side.
  • Sixty-four named slots keep the whole patch, and USB-MIDI brings in notes, velocity, pitch bend and twelve mappable controls.
